Overview
In order for Finch to access your plan sponsors HRIS data, the plan sponsor has to grant permission and share credentials with Finch. Each HRIS requires authentication in order to access data. Finch Connect is the tool that allows your plan sponsors to securely share credentials so that Finch can authenticate and access the data.
Video Overview - Creating Finch Connect Links
Authentication Steps
1. Login to the Finch Dashboard with any role (member, editor, or admin) and navigate to the Connections page.
2. Use the blue Actions button to create Finch Connect links. The following fields are required, the rest are optional:
- customer name - Use a name that will be familiar to your team for tracking the connection. It does not need to match what is in the HRIS system. It will not be visible to your plan sponsor or any other system
- customer id - Can be any unique value. Each customer id will generate its own session and connection. Customer ids can not be reuse and will not be visible to the plan sponsor. It does not need to match any id in any system, but you can use any id that you are already using to track customers.
- On the second step, at the bottom, for "Show Assisted Providers" toggle to "Enabled".
2. Email the Finch Connect link to your plan sponsor. We recommend you send it out as the first and preferred method for the plan sponsor to share data with you.
3. Use the Finch Dashboard Staged Connections to track your plan sponsor progress through Finch Connect. You will be able to identify if they stopped at any step in the Finch Connect process so that you can reach out to answer any questions they have or help them complete the process. For an overview of staged connections, see Create & View Your Connections.
4. When a plan sponsor completes Finch Connect that means they have completed authentication through Finch for their HRIS system. Their company will move from staged connections to the Live Connections tab and you will see the date and time that the data sync completes. For an overview of live connections, see Create & View Your Connections.
